Flagellants protect artillery and/or counterattack.Ĭrossbows allow some arcing fire at spots where handgunners can't reach easily.Ĭavalry harasses in skirmish mode until it can start to run down fleeing enemies.Ģ Cavalry (Knights of the Blazing Sun / Reiksguard / Other) Handgunners are a bit behind the frontline. Halberdiers make a front line, with enough space between the halberdier blocks to allow a handgunner block to fire through that space. So, depending on if mid or late campaign: Of course, the best setup would be something which is mostly (but not totally) steam tanks, however like you, I want the armies to be kind of realistic. kind of realistic deployments mirroring real world - from before the invention of bayonets, after muskets became commonplace. It depends, however I try to build armies where I can setup overlapping zones of fire from between melee blocks, i.e. Crossbowmam is still a usefull unit, that i never stop to use, so 2 of them are never a waste. Your mortars will be replaced by rocket batteries and i bring some cannons in some army, they are really usefull and well accurate. Progressing to the mid and after late game, u could switch your spearman with shield in some greatswords and some halberdiers, using demighryp when facing heavy armour factions (chaos, dwarfs for example).

This is a general cheap army, that u can build soon and is really efficient in the early game. Usually, then, i bring some spearman with shield as frontline (they have a really high MD, giving u time to flank the enemy with handgunners/militia) and have a shield, 4 free company militia that will flank and shoot the enemy, 2 or 3 mortars, the rest at your choice. Usually i use flagellants with archlectors, because they have nice buff for them, that will let them be a good frontline unit. First thing is always destroy their cars, because they have an aoe that heal all nearby units, and usually vampires bring 2 or 3 of them in every army.įor some composition, i like variety with all factions, and empire is the sams. Other than this u can use greatswords or halberdiers. Well vampire have strongh lords and heroes, u need a hero/lord to take care of them, i usually bring some captain incentred on his yellow line for this job. The vampire heroes basically soloed my entire 20 unit stack with +8 MA/MD and were at full HP afterwards.
